How do I form a Krewe? If you can organize a kids’ birthday party, you can form a Krewe. Just gather your friends and family, pick out some costumes or a theme. There is no limit on the number of people who can be in a Krewe and we only ask that you keep it family friendly and people powered. This is a walking or rolling (bikes, skateboards, scooters) parade… so no cars!
How much does it cost? We request a $50 donation… it’s for the kids, you know! How long is the parade route? It’s 1 mile long. The parade begins at the 4/5 Academy on 5th Ave. and ends at The Imperial. Where can I park? We’re in Decatur so we ask that you walk or ride, but if you have to drive, there is off street parking along the route. Uber or Lyft are also great options. Can I have music? Sure!!! Form a band, pull a boom box in a wagon. Music makes ANY parade better so definitely bring the tunes. What about throws? Sure!! Feel free to toss candy or beads… hand out swag or party cups. What happens after the parade? We have a festival at The Imperial! There’ll be cajun food, beer and hot dogs, live performances by our student musicians and the Black Sheep Ensemble and the Feed & Seed Marching Abmonibles. |
